Shortly after her fifteenth birthday, Mulan receives a terrible blow: her father has remarried. Dainty and ladylike, her new stepmother is everything Mulan is not, and Mulan begins to feel like an interloper in her own home. When news comes that the Emperor of China is summoning a great army, Mulan decides to join, knowing that she can easily pass as a boy. Mulan wants very much to bring word of victory to her father, and eventually she is able to do just that. But when Mulan returns home, she is expected to give honor to her family in another way--by marrying a man of her father's choice. She faces an arena that frightens her more than any battlefield when she is forced to meet suitors--especially because she is already in love with another man, her commander in her army, who does not realize that Mulan is a "she" at all.

p.224

Massie Block: When the Pretty Committee deems its boy-fast null and void, boy fever sweeps through BOCD. What better way to backhandspring into new crush Dempsey's heart-and make old crush Derrington jealous-than cheer for him on the soccer field? And just like that, Massie forms BOCD's first-ever cheerleading squad. But will Massie still have something to cheer about when Dempsey starts spending ah lot of time with LBR Layne Abeley? Give me an "E" for Ehmagawd!

Kristen Gregory: With Massie and her SBFF (secret best friend forever) Layne vying for the same boy, Kristen has to make a choice: A) the Pretty Committee, or B) the Witty Committee. And if she doesn't choose fast, she'll end up C) Committeeless.

Dylan Marvil: Is hiding something, and it's not just those peanut butter Luna bars stashed under her mattress. She's got a secret crush on Derrington-and it's no secret that he likes burpilicious redheads. . . .

Alicia Rivera: Prefers pliés to pom-poms, especially when Massie orders her to the bottom of the cheer-pyramid. Can Alicia accept her beta status, or is it time to become alpha of her own squad?

Claire Lyons: Now that she's back with Cam, Claire finally has her love life in order. But her friends are trading crushes like styling tips. Will the Pretty Committee survive the boy-swap intact, or is the Clique about to come apart at the seams?

In fact, the suspected teachers are universally loved by the kids. Finally, they catch a break when Janie taps into the nightmares of one star student. Based on what she finds buried in this girl's psyche, she and Cabel move in for the kill, using Janie as bait. But things don't go as planned--not even close. What happens after everything goes down has consequences way beyond Janie's safety.

Meanwhile, Janie has discovered Martha Stubin's journals, and what she learns through them chills her to the bone. For not only is her fate as a Dream Catcher sealed, but what's to come is way darker than she'd even feared.

Price: $9.99
p.256

With Cheyenne's murder solved and Sabine's secret identity revealed, Reed has had just about all of the shock she can bear for a while. As she recovers from Sabine's final attack and grieves for her fallen friend, Noelle takes her on a winter break trip to relax and maybe even try to have some fun. With Kiran Hayes and Taylor Bell joining them, a Billings reunion is in full force. Perhaps it's possible that Reed can actually go a few weeks without any tragedies occuring...but it is pretty unlikely.
